Routine Update

Date: 2013-09-20 17:09:44

Well, Here I am again. Just sitting here in the office with the cat on the shelf...uh.... Let me rephrase that: the cat is on the shelf, I am NOT!
I'm having all kinds of issues with the dictation program here! Important to remember this point that I'm the guy that put the dick in dictation.

Waiting patiently for the wife to get home with dinner ingredients. I'm starving. Looks like we're going to have chicken tonight! She's going to Curves and then to Costco from there and then she'll be home.

Looks like it's going to be a relatively busy weekend for us. We're getting together with a friend tomorrow and then we've got a dinner outing on Sunday.

Hey, apropos of nothing at all,  did I mention that my wife bought me a new straight razor? It was the better part of two hundred dollars and I absolutely love it. I took up shaving with a straight about 2 years ago and I've never gone back to shaving the other way. Its a 7/8 blade made in Solingen, Germany!

More later.

Cheers!

Current Thoughts

Date: 2013-09-16 11:27:54

I'm starting to believe this diabetes thing that I've gotten is actually one of the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. Hard to believe? Well, it's forced me into taking far better care of myself, losing weight, vastly improved my diet and hopefully, increased exercise!
With all these new changes in my behavior, diabetes is continuously held in price control and I'm really not aware that I have it all. I suspect this is a good thing.

Just heard from one of my readers that I haven't heard from ln months. Glad to say she's doing very well. It's always a treat to hear from people that have taken the time and interest to follow my ramblings!

On a side note, it appears on down to 276 pounds! I got on the scale this morning and saw that I had lost at least four pounds over the weekend. Obviously, it was all water weight but I'll still take the loss!

I'm going to try to make the best of the rest of the day and get out and do some more yard work. At least its constructive and passes for a form of exercise. The weather is also perfect right now so it's a great time to do this.

More later when I get a chance.

Cheers!

Even More Good News!

Date: 2013-09-12 12:31:26

Hey there, its me again!

You know, I totally forgot to mention  what I got my latest labs done last Friday and got the results back this week. It was just the usual panels, liver function and all that good stuff, but the big deal was that they were the best results I've probably ever had in my life! For the first time in several decades, my total cholesterol was finally under a hundred. I'm totally thrilled with this. You're like this so called low fat diabetic diet actually doing something worthwhile and I'm not even starving.
The big deal now is the hope and pray that we can keep the PSA values undetectable. It would be a real shame they came back when everything else is improving.
I keep hoping they're going to make some real progress when controlling recurrent disease so that becomes more of a chronic issue rather than a potentially terminal one. Unfortunately, so far very little progress has been made.

Well, enough of the news of the dismal variety, beautiful day out next time to get ready for garbage pickup week when I can bring out bulk trash. How exciting!
We have least two bushes, some tree limbs, yard waste and some stuff from the house to go out to the curb. Historically, I miss this opportunity, much to the dismay of my wife. This time, I'm going to do so to speak, seize the day.

Another thing I need to do get out walking again! This is very important if I'm going to be losing any weight at all. I kinda lost my enthusiasm for it because the weather's been so hot. Then of course we start into that brief rainy period.  It was raining so hard but I didn't want to get out at all. That's what I get from being from New York State . All the native Arizonans seem to enjoy getting out and getting soaked. Not me!

Well, as usual that's about enough for now. I'll be putting up more I think of it.

Cheers!

A Rainy Day....Finally!

Date: 2013-09-09 12:35:18

Well here's a little bit new to talk about. It's absolutely raining cats and dogs here and has been doing so for about the past two and a half hours! This may be commonplace to some but around here we very rarely see it and when we do it's a really good thing!
I just wish the wife was here with me so we could share it together.

On the downside, it looks like I put on another 3 pounds since last week. This is not good. I thought I was ahead of the game on that, what was the new diet and actually sticking to it I've been losing about a pound a week. I have no idea whether this is just water weight or whether it has something to do with the diet. At any rate, it's depressing!

Okay, that was just a quick update. The cat is sitting in the hallway waiting for me to feed him I guess so I'd better go and take care of that. More later when things develop.

Cheers!

Shotgun Coaching

Date: 2013-09-05 09:27:52

Well, it's that time of the season again. Just got a call from the shotgun range. Seems they still want volunteers to teach the ladies how to use a shotgun for the first time.
Its only twice a month on Thursday night so I think I'm going to go back to doing it is it keeps me out of trouble. The wife is having second thoughts. She's getting a little more sensitive to the heat out here every year.
I guess she's going to play it by ear for a while and see how it goes.

On another note, it's also the early dove season here in Arizona. I haven't even manage to get my lazy ass out there. I  think I'm going to try to go this weekend!

For some reason I've been feeling really out of sorts for minimally the past few days. Fortunately, that seems to be passing. I really don't know what was going on but I was really getting short tempered and depressed.
Interestingly, the OCD has been significantly worse during this period and I really don't know why it would be but this has happened before. Medication doesn't seem to do much for it so I just have to ride it out.
The wife has been very supportive through all that as she always is.

Okay, time to go and see if I can get some stuff done around the house before I have to go to the range. More later as I think about it

Cheers!

Good News!

Date: 2013-09-03 15:35:38

Hey there! I'm back on the air for at least a little while.

At least I have a little bit of good news. I'm actually starting to consistently lose weight! I'm down to approximately 280 pounds from what I was before which was around two hundred and ninety five. This is very encouraging to me. It is so incredibly hard to lose this weight and keep it off any progress is always welcome.
I'm back to using a standard low fat diet like I used to. No more Atkins, at least for a while until we get this under control. I'm not really sure that I'll be able to use that diet in the future.

Been really hot and muggy here, with temperatures running is 102 and sixty   percent humidity. I'll tell you right now, I'm really glad I am semi-retired because I'm not sure at all  that I could take it!

I haven't been posting much lately because there really hasn't been anything to talk about, which is probably good.  I'm probably going to put this down for now and enter more later when I think of something interesting to talk about.

Cheers!
